At the “hot corner”
of Porto Cristo

between the tourist-crowded boulevard and the side streets where local life bubbles in the summer, the artist collective, “Margarita” took up residence during Autumn 2020.

Three creative people joined forces to present their works to the public in the small gallery shop. Art needs to be seen – and not just online.

Photography, painting, poetry, books and drawings find the attention they deserve here.

In the middle of the old town
of Porto Cristo

the artists’ collective not only wants to locate itself physically, but also traditionally. The name “Margarita” is a tribute to the former owner of the shop whose name has been on the awning above the entrance door for what seems like an eternity. Señora Margarita lives directly opposite and still knows the area between Porto Cristo and Cala Ratjada from a time when it was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but fields and dirt tracks.

The idea
for the artists’ collective

came from Marcos Gittis (photography and graphics) and Christiane Sternberg (word art and drawings) who after a stay of many years
in Cyprus now live in Porto Cristo. The third member of the group is the painter, Birgit Maertins, who lives and works on a finca near Manacor.

All of their creativity comes together at the “Margarita” gallery and, hopefully, is an inspiration and joy for all visitors.
